Concrete Fly Ash Silos have several advantages over steel silos that most power utilities recognized as the reason to build concrete silos over steel silos.

  1. Lower construction cost and greatly lower life span cost
  2. Faster delivery schedule
  3. Concrete is structurally superior over steel, thus supporting loads from other equipment without significant structural supports is available.
  4. Concrete silo walls do not bulge in or out like steel silos
  5. Concrete silos do not leak water or material like steel silos do at steel joints.
  6. Concrete silos do not condensate like steel silos.
  7. Concrete silos have enclosed bottoms thus allowing for equipment room inside them.
  8. Concrete silo do not corrode thus do not need to be cleaned and painted in the future. This can cost as much as a new silo sometimes in the future.
