Composite Fiber ReinforcementThe WaboŽMBrace Composite Fiber Reinforcement Strengthening System is an externally bonded FRP (fiber reinforced polymer) reinforcement system used to strengthen existing concrete and masonry structures. The field-proven WaboŽMBrace technology consists of high performance dry fabrics plus polymer resins formulated specifically for the system. The WaboŽMBrace Fabric systems are light weight, high strength alternatives to traditional strengthening methods. Composite Fiber Reinforcement materials will not corrode. Carbon, E-Glass and Aramid fabrics offer solutions for project specific conditions. The WaboŽMBrace line of carbon fabrics can be used in conjunction with the standard or vapor permeable resins. The standard resins can be applied to prepared substrates for wrapping columns, beams and supports. Vapor permeable resins can used on substrates with up to 12% moisture content where full encapsulation is required.

Composite Fiber ReinforcementE-Glass fabrics offer relatively high elongation and strength. The EG 900 fiber has low conductivity for use in sensitive areas. It is not recommended for use with the WaboŽMBrace Resicem saturants. Aramid fabrics are most commonly known for being used in bullet proof protection. The WaboŽMBrace AK 60 fabric can be used where a variety of conditions occur. Aramid has excellent chemical resistance, low conductivity and creep rupture, impact resistance and can be used in temperatures +/- 350° F. The WaboŽ MBrace fabric systems can be installed overhead without the need for heavy equipment. Here a contractor installs Composite Fiber Reinforcements to a structure safely overhead.

The WaboŽ MBrace S&P Laminate systems can be used to strengthen a variety of concrete, masonry and wooden structures. These laminate systems are light weight so overhead installations are safe and fast. The near surface mounted systems are easily installed into saw cut slots and that are filled with epoxy. This technique allows the actual laminate to be protected from abrasion and wear. The surface mounted systems are also easily applied to flat surfaces that require reinforcement for positive and negative moment. The WaboŽ MBrace S&P Laminates are available in one standard thickness (0.055 in.) and three widths: 3/8" for near surface applications and 2" and 4" widths for surface mounted applications. Near surface mounted laminates can be used to strengthen small areas in deComposite Fiber Reinforcementck like the one shown in this parking structure. The WaboŽ MBrace S&P Laminate systems are shipped in light weight rolls or factory cut lengths. These rolls can be easily stored, transported and carried. Dry storage is not required since Composite Fiber Reinforcement laminates will not rust.
